Chai Latte - The Scent of Cinnamon

Chai Latte – De Jonge Admiraal (The Young Admiral)

At ‘De Jonge Admiraal’ (The Young Admiral) I sipped away the best Chai Latte I’ve ever tasted. Yes, even better than the ones I make at home. What made it so great? The people of ‘De Jonge Admiraal’ authentically brew the spices themselves. In a large pot, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, fennel, cloves, and black tea are put happily together, boiling the day away. So, to get this straight, they do this before hand, not at the moment you order your Chai. Otherwise it would take hours to get the mix as spicy as they serve it. They prepare the mix in boiling water, so you can choose yourself what kind of milk you like to have with your Chai. I chose Soy milk, which was steamed and added to a quarter cup of spicy water. The Chai Latte is served in a double layered glass, so it stays warm extra long. It isn’t sweetened, but on every table you’ll find organic honey and sugar, which you can add to your liking. Completely customizable!
